Remarks from INDEbank Managing Director, William Chatsala
3rd June, 2009
INDEbank has a vision to be the bank of choice in the country, and we strive to add value in all our dealings with the various stakeholders. The communities in which the Bank operates are a very important stakeholder. We are therefore very excited to be partnering the World Food Programme on the Walk the world event.
The walk the world event not only raises the much needed funds, but more importantly, it raises awareness for the plight of so many underprivileged children within our society.
INDEbank commends the World Food Programme and its various partners for their magnificent efforts in providing food for over 640,000 school going children within Malawi, thus ensuring that the children stay in school.
As a responsible corporate citizen, we have decided to contribute towards the noble cause that the WFP is pursuing, hence our gathering here this afternoon.
Last year we donated MK50,000 for the purpose. I am pleased to announce that in 2009, we have increased our contribution to K200,000.00, and have encouraged INDEbank staff to participate in the walk itself.
INDEbank is committed to supporting Government, and other co-operating partners such as the WFP in the promotion of education in Malawi, and will continue to support related causes whenever possible.
